The Travis Spur Rail Bridge Replacement project was presented as a paper at the AREMA 2019 Conference that took place in Minneapolis, MN from September 22-25, 2019. Ted Henning, PE, and Seth Condell, PE, from Parsons Corporation, and Jing Kang, PE, and Maulik Patel, PE, from SJH Engineering, P.C., authored the paper.

One of the many challenges to be overcome during Goethals Bridge Replacement Project was the replacement of the existing Travis Spur Rail Bridge. The ABC replacement of the Travis Spur Rail Bridge was an integral part of the scope of this ambitious program, to remove what would otherwise be a choke point for traffic on the underlying highway and for the future transit corridor. The award-winning project included an unique connection between the precast cap beams and the cast-in-place columns. The bridge was replaced over a weekend shut-down.
