SERVICES PROVIDED
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded the Michael Baker team a five-year, $5M Indefinite Delivery Contract to support civil works, military, international, and interagency services missions assigned to the Philadelphia District. SJH provided bridge inspection services under this contract. The tasks primarily involved assessing long- and short-span bridges of various materials and types, including cable-stayed bridges, culverts, and hydraulic steel structures.
As a task order under this contract, SJH performed field inspections to evaluate and repair a four-lane, high-level highway crossing over the Chesapeake and Delaware Canal in St. Georges, Delaware. The field inspections consisted of a routine inspection of the structure, along with an in-depth, hands-on, full-length inspection of the fracture-critical members. The inspection results were presented in a report in accordance with the Engineering and Design-USACE Bridge Safety Program. The field inspection included the evaluation of the concrete approach piers as well as the rigging in the water. SJH was also responsible for maintaining traffic safety with minimal interruptions under the bridge.
