SERVICES PROVIDED
As a subconsultant, SJH provided the analysis of the SR I-95 Pier 24 cap beam and the design of a temporary supporting tower, foundation, and procedures to support the pier cap. This contract was part of a larger $160M project to replace structurally deficient bridges that carried the mainline, improved the safety of the network, enhanced mobility, increased mainline capacity, and upgraded components of the transportation system that were near the end of their design life in Philadelphia. SJH participated in rebuilding ramps and improving connections at several locations near the interchange of Interstate 95, the Betsy Ross Bridge, and Aramingo Avenue. Under this contract, we prepared design calculations for temporary support for Stages 3 and 4 under the following tasks:
Task 1 – Checked the existing pier reinforcement for the new span length based on the tower location.
Task 2 – Designed the finite element model for the tower, including all components such as the base plate and tower cribbing.
Task 3 – Prepared design calculations for a reinforced cement concrete footing for the support.
Task 4 – Developed drawings to show the location of the tower, the new footing, and staging details.
