PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Route 3 is a complex project consisting of a three-phased construction, keeping three lanes open on both the Eastbound and Westbound roadways. SJH provided a senior construction inspector that was responsible for performing MPT / lane closure at night as per NJDOT policy of zero tolerance for late openings of closed lanes and keeping track of quantities and payments for the phased work.

Structural work on this project consisted of 4 bridge replacements, 12 box culverts, 20 retaining walls, 11 noise barriers, several drilled shafts, and 19 sign structures. In addition, the roadway was widened for a distance of 2.43 miles, from 6 existing to 10 new lanes which encompass extensive earthwork, utility relocations, drainage construction, sanitary sewer and water main installation, sub-base preparation, DGA placement, paving, striping, raised pavement markers (RPM), guide rail and landscaping.
