Maintenance Construction Inspection

As a subconsultant to JMT, SJH provided construction inspection to JMT for the following NJDOT Maintenance Contracts: Timber and Underwater Repair, Concrete Repair, and Tree Trimming. Inspection personnel performed field inspections for the emergency repairs and the reconstruction of miscellaneous substructure and superstructure elements of various bridges throughout the state. Task orders have included the construction inspection of wingwall reconstruction, bulkhead reconstruction, complete timber deck removal and replacement, abutment reconstruction, stringer replacement, embankment erosion repairs, erosion protection, Hurricane Sandy debris clean up and removal, pile jackets, scour repair using rip rap and pumped grout, repair of fender systems and dolphins, repair of walkways and handrails, traffic control, milling and paving.

Construction Inspection of Seaside Bridge due to Hurricane Sandy Storm Damage in Conjunction with USACE: The picture above shows the emergency fill placement area. The Mantoloking Breach X section specification involved fill in cove and slope berm to match existing. Dune elevation was 16 ft. NAVD88, berm of 8 ft. NAVD. The Timber and Underwater Repair work included the rehabilitation of timber structures, bulkheads, timber piles, wash-outs, underwater repair of concrete footings utilizing high strength epoxy concrete.

Inspection for Maintenance Resurfacing 12C: Performed field inspections for the construction of new curb, sidewalks, handicap ramps in compliance with ADA standards, drainage inlet/manhole reconstruction, retrofitting existing traffic signals with imaging detection systems, bridge deck joint reconstruction, full depth concrete pavement repair, traffic control, milling and paving. The Concrete Repair Contract included repairs to concrete columns, pier caps, abutments, backwalls, bridge decks utilizing quick setting concrete, Gunite, and epoxy concrete.
