SJH was responsible for the Routine Inspection of 76 bridges in Hunterdon County, NJ. The bridges were of various configurations, including masonry, timber, steel, concrete, arch and rigid frame structures, and spanned mostly over waterways. Inspections concentrated on various structural elements, including superstructure primary and secondary members, concrete or timber decking, substructure elements, abutments, piers, and other safety features such as the guiderails, and barriers. Inspections were based on the NBIS Standards, and our inspectors completed the required SI&A forms and PONTIS codes. We inspected these bridges on two cycles. For identified deficiencies, depending on the severity of the deficiency, Priority Reports of differing levels were developed. The reports included repair recommendations with order of magnitude cost estimates. For County-owned bridges, the County was also notified of the recommended priority repairs and recommendations.
