PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey planned the $150 million rehabilitation of 178th and 179th Street Ramps, Bus Ramps, and Turnaround; Upper Level Spans over New Jersey Anchorage and Hudson Terrace; and Upper Level sidewalk repairs under this contract.

SJH inspected the NJ Approaches over Hudson Terrace and developed an Inspection Report of the underside of the deck, steel bents, and abutments. Fatigue-prone cover plate end-weld locations were also inspected. SJH also designed the 179th Street Ramp rehabilitation and we provided contract documents. Currently we are providing construction support services for the steel frame ramp rehabilitation with steel stringers supported by steel bents.
