SJH provided Construction Inspection services as a subconsultant to JMT for this $57M project to widen Route 22 along Chimney Rock Road between Route 22 East and Union Avenue. This 3-year contract which broke ground in 2012 involves extensive maintenance of traffic, coordination of traffic control with the police, lane shifts, temporary exit-only right turns, and utility relocations.
The County of Somerset, in conjunction with the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) commissioned the construction of a full-service interchange at U.S. Route 22 and Chimney Rock Road to improve safety and to achieve the future mobility goals of the area. The interchange provides for full access to U.S. Route 22 and Chimney Rock Road via Local U.S. Route 22 eastbound with the Mainline U.S. Route 22 depressed under Chimney Rock Road. Improvements to the U.S. Route 22 corridor will be realized after completion of this project, generally between Interstate 287 on the western end and Thompson Avenue on the eastern end.
SJH was involved in the inspection activities for widening Chimney Rock Road between Thompson Avenue and Route 28, as well as realigning and extending Frontier Road to Chimney Rock Road. The project includes the inspection of construction of a new vehicular bridge and railroad bridge over U.S. Route 22 along Chimney Rock Road. SJH was also involved with improvements slated for the existing bridge on U.S. Route 22 over the Middle Brook and the existing bridge over Interstate 287 on Chimney Rock Road.
