The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of New Jersey awarded SJH with a Distinguished Award for Engineering Excellence for the MTA MNR Ossining Station Roof Replacement. As Designer of Record, SJH provided the complete design and construction support services to effectively restore the historic Ossining Station’s roof, timber canopies, and other components to their former glory. The complex design features clay terra cotta tiles, copper gutters, and leaders, timber canopies, tongue and groove timber decking, a copper wind-powered ventilator, and ventilation through eave vents. The challenges included preserving historic features, extensive coordination activities, and completing the $2.3M project on time and within budget with minimal disruptions to tenants or to the traveling public. Our work was recognized at the 51st Engineering Excellence Awards Banquet on March 23, 2022.
