Yankee Stadium

This design-build project involved the construction of new Metro North Station at Yankee Stadium, Bronx, New York. SJH designed new platforms, a pedestrian bridge, stairs and mezzanines on either side of the bridge, and elevators. During construction, we provided construction support services, which included reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs and visiting the site as required to evaluate and recommend solutions to field conditions.

The team reviewed preliminary plans and architectural drawings, developed structural design drawings and specifications for the East stairs, including the mezzanine floor, and the elevator shaft. In addition, SJH also designed the temporary stairs to be used during a Yankee season, and analyzed the existing Pedestrian Bridge in the ‘cut’ position to confirm its structural integrity for use during a Yankee season.

In order to accomplish the construction during Yankees off-season, extensive staging was involved. A portion of the existing pedestrian bridge was cut and the remainder used for pedestrian traffic. The new structures were founded on piles, with piles caps and grade beams.
