Interchange 6 to 9

Under this award winning project, SJH designed two bridges at Interchange 8, as part of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority’s Interchange 6 to 9 Widening Program. The S-Turn Bridge over the NJ Turnpike’s main line is a three (3) span continuous structure with spans ranging from 90 to 140 feet. The U-Turn Bridge over entrance and exit ramps near the toll plaza is a two (2) span continuous structure, with spans ranging from 105 to 170 feet. Preliminary designs included preparation of bridge sketches, alternative analysis and the preparation of Structure Reports. We performed seismic analysis for a two-level event and prepared complete construction documents for the two bridges. We provided Post Design services including shop drawing review and response to contractor Request for Information (RFI). Construction of the two bridges has been completed on schedule. Total construction cost of the entire contract is $200 million.
