Under this three-year contract with NJ Transit as a subconsultant to Gannett Fleming, SJH conducted physical inspections, prepared formal condition assessments and related documentation, and report findings for Fiscal Years 2021 through 2023. SJH performed Facility Condition Surveys of various NJ Transit stations, shops and yards which involved approximately 285 locations. Focused on the North Region, SJH performed structural, civil, mechanical, and electrical inspections on an annual basis for the Montclair-Boonton and Main Line, including stations, station buildings, Shape[Text Box]parking garages, park-and-rides, elevators, escalators, overpasses, stairs, canopies, platforms, and fare collection areas. SJH was involved with coordination activities for access to inspect facilities, field inspections, cost estimating and contributing to the condition assessment reports.
As part of the electrical and mechanical inspections, SJH inspected the power supply and mechanical equipment for the elevators and escalators. Our inspectors performed test runs of the elevators and escalators to check the functioning of the items. The electrical panel boards, wiring, conduits, and rack systems were checked for code compliance. Any exposed or unsafe conditions were noted and reported to NJ Transit. In addition, the plumbing and drainage systems in the elevator pits were also inspected and noted. During the report preparation, SJH assisted with the cost estimation of the repairs and necessary upgrades.
