The Henry Hudson Bridge (HHB) is a twin deck steel arch bridge that connects the boroughs of Manhattan to the Bronx. Built-in 1936 HHB spans across the Spuyten Duyvil Creek from Inwood Hill Park in Manhattan to the Spuyten Duyvil section of the Bronx. Both the upper and lower toll plazas are located on the southern end of the bridge. The upper-level toll plaza is on the approach structure that is directly above the lower-level toll Plaza. The TBTA program plans to replace the concrete roadway decks on the structure and the structural approaches, except for the sidewalks form Bent 7 to Bent 72. This $86M effort replaces and rehabilitates the Upper-Level Toll Plaza and the supporting deck/ structures, the Lower-Level South Approach, and Lower Maintenance Garage structure. Gateless tolling was previously implemented in E-ZPass lanes. The final design of the toll plaza permits TBTA to choose to collect tolls having E-ZPass lanes and cash collected lanes collected at the toll booths. Features of HHB are determined to be eligible the National Register of Historic Places.
SJH developed work zone traffic control plans and staging sections to meet MTA and NYSDOT standards. SJH provided additional information for the construction support services including civil and structural reviews for HH-88B. Shop drawing and as -built drawings were reviewed.
