PROJECT DESCRIPTION

SJH provided a construction manager for the Jackie Robinson Houses in Manhattan, an 8-story public housing building with 189 residential apartments. The project scope included the abatement and removal of existing boilers, which were abandoned in place along with a 20,000-gallon underground oil tank located outside the building. The work also involved the installation of a central plant, ceiling insulation, chimney refractory brick, electrical control panels with associated wiring, plumbing work, and fire door insulation.

SJH oversaw the installation of two high-efficiency gas-fueled condensing boilers with pumps, piping, boiler controls, and fire alarm devices. The project also included the installation of two high-efficiency gas-fired hot water heaters with storage tanks, as well as some structural work. The new system was commissioned by a Certified Professional. The total construction cost was $4.65M.
