As part of their annual maintenance program, the New York City School Construction Authority (NYCSCA) performs an inspection of all their schools in the City. The assets exceed 1,500 building facilities. The inspections are conducted by teams of four engineers and architects specialized in the disciplines of architecture, structural engineering, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. The data is collected with handheld tablets and entered into the system on a daily basis. The program analyzes the data and provides an order of magnitude estimate for the reconstruction work, and the NYCSCA uses the information for its capital program.
SJH provided architectural and engineering personnel for the inspection teams for numerous schools in New York City as part of the annual BCAS program. The teams identified architectural and structural deficiencies in the school buildings and developed reports with recommendations for repairs, with the order of magnitude cost estimates. The inspections were coordinated with the school custodians, and the reports were completed daily.
