SERVICES PROVIDED
Under this three-year On-Call General Engineering Services term contract, SJH provided engineering support for the City of Philadelphia Department of Streets, Surveys, Design, & Construction Division. Specific tasks were assigned, authorized, and executed on a Work Order basis to support capital improvement projects. The work consisted of engineering design, project management, and construction inspection tasks as required to complete projects.
Cheltenham Avenue Improvements
Cheltenham Avenue is a major corridor in Philadelphia with two lanes of roadway in each direction and a turning lane in the middle. The roadway also included other turning lanes and full-width shoulders. Sidewalks and curbs abutted the roadway on both sides. Under this assignment, the City of Philadelphia intended to upgrade the traffic signals and other utilities along Cheltenham Avenue.
Our inspector was on-site to ensure that all construction work was completed in accordance with the contract documents. The inspector also ensured that the maintenance and protection of traffic devices were properly placed and that the scheme was implemented as specified in the contract documents. Extensive coordination with various utility companies was involved. Daily inspection reports were prepared and submitted to the Resident Engineer.
