Under this biennial inspection program, which aims to recommend proper maintenance, capital program projects, and upgrades / replacements, SJH provided inspections for seven (7) Toll Bridges and thirteen (13) Toll-Supported Bridges, as well as all associated facilities and grounds with each bridge. Seven sites with over five buildings at each toll bridge location, include administrative areas, sheds, garages, and storage buildings for equipment and vehicles. Our team also inspected toll plaza facilities for any deficiencies, as well as the underground connecting tunnels. The facilities are on the waterfront, crossing the Delaware River between New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
The team conducted inspections of architectural treatments, structural framing, roofing, supports, windows, doors, exterior and interior lighting, exteriors / facades, canopies, general HVAC system operations, and utility supports. The facilities were checked against ADA compliance, building codes, fire codes, electrical code, and means of egress, according to local, state, and federal standards. Our inspectors conducted visual inspections of all site components, including sign structures, retaining walls, sidewalks, curbs, manholes, drainage, sewage systems, parapet, and parking lots.
The facility inspection reports were reviewed and coordinated with DRJTBC personnel on-site (including foreman, superintendent, and assistant superintendent). Our staff responded to inquiries by Commission personnel regarding any compliance issues or deficiencies. Following the inspections, our team developed reports noting observed deficiencies, containing photographic documentation of conditions, and summarizing recommendations for repair with various priority levels. The submissions include Annual Bridge and Facility Inspection Reports, Annual Maintenance Reports, and Cost Estimates and Support Data.
