PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Under this three year term agreement, SJH provided facility condition surveys as a subconsultant to Gannett Fleming. The team has completed five tasks to date at Newark (EWR) and John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airports. Services included project scoping, field inspections, providing related reports, and cost estimates for selected facilities.

Condition Survey of Buildings 32, 33, 35, and 175 (Decks), Newark, NJ – 2012. Involved in the structural integrity inspection of three buildings and one hanger structure. Various unobstructed structural, architectural elements and ceiling surfaces of the buildings, including the connections at roof framing were inspected. The condition surveys were 100% visual and 10% hands on. Inspection reports were prepared in accordance with all PANYNJ procedures and show requirements, conclusions, and recommendations for repair.

Condition Survey of Buildings 55C, 101, 105, 106, 107, 109, 112, 154, 178 (Decks Only), & 302, Newark, NJ – 2013. Involved in the field inspection and report for facility buildings, retaining walls, toll booths and utility chambers. Deteriorations were categorized as Safety, Routine, Priority and Immediate Action. Field notes were developed into CADD sketches and the final report prepared with the concurrence of the Authority. In addition, an order of magnitude cost estimate also was developed for the proposed repairs. The scope of work included an inspection of the gypsum planks to verify that the planks were not deteriorated by probing the planks from the interior of the building as required to determine their condition. A baseline inspection of Building 101, Floor Plans and basic structural Framing Plans were provided.

Condition Survey of Buildings 15, 24, 24A, 26, 26A, 28, 116, 117, 120, 123, 156, 303, 315, & 343 and Vacant Buildings 95, 151A, 345, & 350, Newark, NJ – 2013. Involved in the field inspection and Condition Survey Report for facility buildings, retaining walls, toll booths and utility chambers . The inspection documented the existing conditions, identified structural and non-structural deficiencies, and recommendations to correct deficiencies.

Condition Survey of JFK Airport Buildings 10 & 19 Vacant Buildings 111 & 144 and Accessory Buildings, Queens, NY 2014. The team inspected hangers with warehouse spaces, guard booths, light vault, former office buildings, and a former hotel. Building 10 is a three story central core area with lean-to structure, steel framed Pratt tresses, encased in concrete. The structure is founded on piles with grade beams that span between the pile caps to support the exterior perimeter. An 80-foot manlift was used for inspections. Two teams were utilized, requiring 100% visual and 5-10% hands on inspections.

Condition Survey of Buildings 56, 102, 103 and 339, Newark, NJ – 2014. Involved in the structural integrity inspection of three buildings and one hanger structure.
