Bridge Repairs & Resurfacing

SJH provided design services for bridge repairs and resurfacing, MP 0 to 122, Newark Bay-Hudson County Extensions and the Pearl Harbor Memorial Turnpike Extension. The scope of the project included visual inspections of approximately 30 mainline, local road overpass, and ramp crossings, both topside and underside. Additional work involved modifications of sidewalks, parapets, and joints, as well as temporary relocations of signs, electrical, and control appurtenances.

SJH provided personnel for field inspection services for structures along the NJ Turnpike and assisted with the preparation of design, contract documents, and construction services. Our staff collaborated with Michael Baker, Jr., Inc. and GPI to evaluate structures. The inspections were hands on, so that repair locations and quantities could be developed from the information. We assisted with Phase A Design Report submission, cost and quantity estimates for Phase B and C submissions, and preparation of structural details, such as deck, bearings, and substructure. Upon combined site visits, and concurrence by the Authority, plans and contract documents were developed for the repair of the selected bridges. We also provided CADD support for the preparation of contract plans.
