SJH provided design services for the resurfacing Rockaway Boulevard. Plans for the resurfacing include double course overlay, pavement repairs, cleaning drainage structures, replacement of damaged curbing, new striping, installation of 12” signal heads with back-plates per lane, lane assignment signs, installation of intersection advance warning signs, curb ramps according to the current ADA standards, repairs of damaged sidewalks; and installation of high visibility crosswalk/pedestrian signals with countdown timers at the Rockaway Boulevard/Farmers Boulevard Intersection. Rockaway Boulevard to Guy R. Brewer Boulevard. The new traffic pattern plans for a left turn bay at 149th Road instead. Drawings and details for a new traffic signal at the Guy R Brewer Boulevard and 149th Road intersection eliminate the left turn lane movement from Rockaway Boulevard to Guy R. Brewer Boulevard.
Requirements of the New York City Department of Transportation and New York City Traffic Signals include updated signage. The sign plans for overhead sign structures are based on designs determined by the geotechnical boring results. The replacement of the overhead cantilever-type sign structures on the Westbound Rockaway Boulevard update old sign structures that are out of date and not up to code. SJH provided the designs for the replacement of these structures as well as updating the signs along the Boulevard.
