NJ Transit awarded this facility inspection and condition assessment project to comply with FTA regulations for Transit Asset Management to Gannett Fleming, with SJH as a subconsultant. SJH was involved with Task 3 Field Inspections, Task 4 -Data Assessment and Cost Estimating, Task 5- Condition Assessment Reports, and Task 6 – Executive Summary areas of the project.
Facilities included commuter rail stations, light rail stations and system shops, bus terminals, garages, shops, terminals, and park-and-rides. SJH provided civil and structural inspections at Gladstone Branch with twelve (12) stations, Raritan with eighteen (18) stations, Morristown with seventeen (17) stations, thirteen (13) bus garages, and fifteen rail yard facilities. Condition ratings and a photograph were provided of each inspected item. The inspections were visual and consisted of all exposed features. The components included all visible structural elements such as steel framing, masonry walls, concrete elements and other architectural features. On the civil side, the components included parking lots, paved areas, sidewalks and drainage systems. Once all inspectors completed their assessments, estimates were performed to determine the total repair and replacement costs for inspected items that are in condition rating scale of 1 and 2 per FTA TERM Condition Assessment Scale.
